Employing only fair labor, our inspiring collection is consciously crafted of GOTS Certifed Organic Cotton. Every facet of our line is eco-friendly, from the recycled hangtags to the water-based inks. From soil to shelf, Sweet Spud is true to the Earth.
About Us:
In an industry inundated with products, apparel and various gadgets for kids, Sweet Spud co-founders Marlena and Audrey noticed a void. There was a need for thought-provoking and inspiring children's wear. The solution? Sweet Spud's debut line of organically enlightened children's apparel.
Inspired by some of the world’s great thinkers, Sweet Spud's debut line features uplifting quotes and refreshing, earthy graphics. The apparel is made of super soft, GOTS certified organic cotton and is sustainably manufactured following fair labor standards. Sweet Spud is proud to produce clothing that is completely toxin-free and processed in an eco-friendly fashion; without any harmful chemicals or toxic dyes.
How Green is Sweet Spud?
Spud fabric and manufacturing: Sweet Spud's apparel is made of organic cotton certified by Global Organic Trade Standards (GOTS). GOTS is a leading campaigning and certification organization that has been working to promote sustainable organic farming since it evolved in 2002. All of Sweet Spud's clothing has been produced and processed following the strictest environmental standards.
Spud screen printing: Our designs are printed in an environmentally friendly way with water-based, phthalate-free inks. Not only is the print soft on the environment, but it is also soft to the touch. Conventional screen printing methods involve the use of plastisol inks which have been described as one of the most environmentally damaging plastics. In 2008, hundreds of parents reported chemical-like burns on their baby's backs. These burns were caused by tagless labels printed with PVC and plastisol inks. That’s a no-no for us!
Spud packaging: Sweet Spud’s goods come delivered in a 100% recycled/recyclable box and wrapped in tissue paper that is made of 100% recycled fibers; both are made in the U.S.A. Our items are shipped without any excess packaging, but still look so incredibly sweet!

- Bodysuit snaps are nickel-free.
- Hangtag made of 100% recycled paper and printed with soy ink in the U.S.A.
- Tissue paper, sticker and shipping box are recycled/recyclable and made in the U.S.A.
